Wyb was a bold bet on Gen Z—an AI-powered social playground blending identity, play, and real connection. I led product, design, GTM, and growth—taking it from idea to 200K+ installs in 80 days. More than a launch story, this was the journey where
I grew from designer to founder

Wyb began with a bold ambition: to reimagine what social platforms could mean for Gen Z. In a landscape of filtered perfection and passive scrolling, we asked a simple question: what if social media was built for real connection, not just performance?

From leading product and design to shaping GTM and growth, I helped drive Wyb from concept to launch—culminating in over 3 Lakh installs in just 120 days, with good retention and engagement. More than a product, Wyb was a playground where I matured from a designer into a product owner deeply immersed in business.

Wyb was built lean from day one—bootstrapped until we earned belief.

We bootstrpped early research, prototypes, and design sprints—interviewing over 150 Gen Z users. With a clear vision and early traction in hand, we secured $1.25M in seed funding from India Quotient and Mobile Premier League (MPL) Ventures in November 2023. That capital helped us move from proof to product, without losing the speed or soul of a bootstrapped team.

Identifying the Problem: Research First, Always
Identifying the Problem: Research First, Always
Wyb wasn’t born in a brainstorm—it emerged from deep listening.

We interviewed over 150 Gen Z users across India. Through generative workshops, user diaries, and street intercepts, we uncovered a consistent frustration: today’s platforms feel performative, disconnected, and stale. Gen Z didn’t want more followers—they wanted to find their people. They craved playful, low-pressure spaces where they could be seen, heard, and belong.

  • Gen Z feels social media is high-pressure and low-authenticity.

  • There’s a deep need for micro-communities and real-time interactions.

  • Identity is fluid; avatars and expressive formats resonate more than static profiles.

  • Safe spaces, creative play, and serendipitous discovery > algorithmic doomscrolling.

Designing with Users, Not Just for Them
Designing with Users, Not Just for Them
From avatar customization to tribe discovery, every feature was co-created.

From avatar customization to tribe discovery, every feature was co-created.

We ran iterative testing across concept cards, wireframes, prototypes, and beta versions. Feedback loops were baked into the design process—with user insights guiding everything from the onboarding flow to game mechanics inside chats.

Some standout design principles:

  • Know and show who you are: Dynamic profiles that adapt to moods, interests, and activities.

  • Discover your tribe: AI-powered vibe checks and interactive discovery tools.

  • Connect and play: Games, polls, and ephemeral spaces to build bonds through fun.

A Bold Design System That Spoke Gen Z

We designed a system so unapologetically Gen Z, it filtered out Millennials by design

We designed a system so unapologetically Gen Z, it filtered out Millennials by design

At Wyb, the design system wasn’t just aesthetic—it was cultural. From color palettes and typography to interaction models, every choice was calibrated for Gen Z’s native behaviors and tastes. We leaned into playful gradients, bold contrasts, modular components, and fast-switching layouts.

What set it apart were Gen Z-native interactions: gesture-first navigation, shuffle mechanics, and expressive feedback loops. Intuitive for Gen Z, overwhelming for others—by design.

This system wasn’t just functional, it created cultural belonging.

Wyb wasn’t just a product—it was where I learned to operate end-to-end, from the trenches to the big picture.

I took ownership from research to roadmap, and dug deep into GTM and growth—translating product insight into real traction. I wore every hat—from designer to product owner to business lead—because that’s what early-stage building demands. I learned to move fast without losing focus, to obsess over users, and to rally teams around purpose.
